RED ANTS FDN GARDENING CLASS - 2016
We received a grant from the Red Ants Pants Foundation to teach young women how to garden. The participants (9 of them) received the materials and instruction on how to build a 4 foot by 4 foot raised garden bed. Then they were instructed on how to mix the best growing medium for their raised bed. Then they were instructed on how to plant their raised bed using the "square foot" planting method. They were also instructed on best watering practices, companion planting for best growth and bug protection. The photo's in this album show the benefits of their work. They walked around the Westside Orchard Garden and harvested whatever they liked, then under Abigail's instruction they made a beautiful garden slaw and then Abigail taught them how to best make a salad dressing. It was a wonderful meal complete with Carrot Top Pesto Abigail brought along and Squash bread made by a well known local baker, Baker Bob!
We can't thank Red Ants Pants Foundation for their generous grant which allows us to sponsor this class for these young ladies...THANK YOU!
